Magnitude, that's the word that comes to my mind. If I could have foreseen the magnitude of the things that were to lay ahead with my "big brown dawwwg". There are not adequate words to describe the all encompassing feelings of love, friendship, memories and experiences I have had with Meadow, a.k.a. RKK's Meadow Buttercup, Em, Emmie, Butter, Butter Butt, Buttercup, Emmer Doodle Poodle, Butt Butt. To quote Dr. Suess from Oh The Places You'll Go, "Today is your day. You're off to great places. You're off and away." And that we were!
There isn't a day that passes that she doesn't make me laugh. She is love in every space that love can exist. Her spirit and personality on the dock is always evident, she takes on a "let's do this" energy. One of my most memorable moments was at the Super Retriever Series Crown Championship. We had an exhausting day of finishing the a qualifier, due to rain, that we had started on the previous day. Meadow was tied head to head with a male black lab named Rebel owned by Chuck Mann. Both dogs were giving it everything they had. After a day of at least 17 Vertical jumps up to 7' and back down and then back up again, they allowed both dogs into finals. It was a grueling day. One that taught me the courage, drive and stamina of a girl named Meadow. We placed fourth, and considering the company we were in (Henry, Stryker and Moose), it was more than I could have ever dreamed. After that day, Meadow earned her street credits in the dock jumping world. Meadow was the last female standing out of 18 dogs. What moved me the most that day was the amount of people who approached us afterward. One after another they came to pet Meadow and just to tell us how much they were rooting for us. Meadow just has a way of capturing the crowd. She truly is....love.
