Sage

Miracles happen and the Universe seems to offer us gifts when we need them the most. After my Chessie of 15 years had passed I was devastated. As time passed I found that I had a huge hole in my heart and an empty house that I could not bare to be in. I had been to the Cobo Hall Dog Show a couple of years earlier and saw the most beautiful Chesapeakes. I asked around and found out the breeders were Gary and Dorene Irish. I took their card knowing that one day I may want it. About a month after Shelby had passed I found the card in my desk, so I made the call. I asked if they had any puppies and as fate would have it, they had a litter the night before. My baby girl Sage was supposed to be spoken for, but the planets aligned and God must have known that she would bring more into my life than I could have ever imagined. After a meeting and a very thorough interrogation (at least that's what it felt like) by Gary I was told I could pick Sage up in 8 weeks. I joke about the interrogation, but I have the upmost respect for the Irish's for being so conscientious about who their puppies end up with.

I brought Sage home and my heart was consumed with love. Her name, Irish's Beyond Measure (Sage) was inspired by the Jeremy Camp song "Beyond Measure". Sage means one who is wise and there is just something so intuitive about my girl. I truly felt that I had "been given more than earthly treasure" and the song depicts everything she means to me. She is often referred to as the "momma's girl" on the dock and is always silly which makes the crowd laugh. I really don't know how Miss Sage hasn't pushed me right in the pool yet. It seems whatever space I occupy, Sage is right there. The joy she brings me every single day exceeds definition and I love her with all of my heart and soul. I am especially blessed to have a Chessie that roo roo's in Meadow and in Sage I get to receive big teeth baring Chessie smiles. Nothing can melt your heart like seeing that lip curl into a smile of all teeth. Thank you for the memories, Sagey Baby, we still have so many more to come.
